Pacaya is a complex volcano, consisting of an older stratovolcano, domes, flows, tephra, and the modern basaltic stratovolcano. Most of the complex has formed in the last 23,000 years. Pacaya is the active vent in the Cerro Grande-Pacaya-Cerro Chino volcanic complex.
June, 2001: Volcān Pacaya has been made a national park. A visitor's center/ticket booth has been constructed at San Francisco de Sales
In the summit of this volcano, that is the crater, you will see the Cerro de Agua, and if it is clear you can also see the volcanoes Agua, Acatenango and Fuego
Pacaya volcano is located between the Departments of Guatemala and Escuintla, and it has a height of 2,550 meters.
