La Ruta Maya - Mayan Route

Mayan man in village store, Oxkutzcab, Yucatan, Mexico

Picture of Village store near Oxkutzcab on the way to Labna, Sayil and Kabah Maya Archeology sites on the Puuc Route, Yucatan, Mexico.

Oxkutzcab, the village that is nick-named the "orchard of the state". Oxkutuzcab Village is close to the Lol Tun Caves or Loltun Caves and located where the Convent Route and the Puuc Route meet. Oxkutzcab was founded in 1841 and has a population of 27,000.

The Puuc Route includes the Mayan Archaeological sites with Mayan pyramids of Uxmal, Kabah, Sayil, X-Lapak, Labna and the Loltun Caves. Each of the sites has restored and other structures, covered with brush, tree and jungle, much the way early explorers and archaeologists found them.
